Novelis Recycle for Good

Did you know that more than $73 million worth of aluminum goes into Georgia landfills each year despite the fact that aluminum can be infinitely recycled?  What if through the simple act of collecting and recycling aluminum beverage cans, we could keep cans out of landfills while also providing a home for a local family in need?

How you can Help

As previously announced, all GeorgiaFIRST teams are encouraged to join Recycle for Good with our partner, Novelis. Check out this video to learn more about the initiative:

How to Participate

  1. Collect aluminum beverage cans at your school and throughout your community. In addition, talk to local businesses, restaurants and your neighbors about saving their cans for your team.
  2. Bring your cans for weigh-ins and recycling at Georgia district and state competitions. There will be a Recycle for Good booth at each competition.
  3. Since your robots are made with Novelis aluminum, you can also bring in aluminum scrap.
  4. If you would like to take your aluminum cans to a local recycling center, you can get a receipt for the weight, as well as payment for the value. Turn in both the receipt and checks made out to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity at the Recycle for Good booth at competitions.

By joining Recycle for Good, you are not only making a difference in the Atlanta community and for our environment, but your team also has an opportunity to win grants through Novelis!

Grant Levels

The team that recycles the most cans by weight will win a $2,000 grant from Novelis.

Second place and third place winners will receive $1,500 and $1,000, respectively.
