Join Novelis to Recycle for Good
and Make Your Cans Count!

This season, all GeorgiaFIRST FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) and FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) teams are being invited to join Recycle for Good, with the goal of collecting 3 million aluminum beverage cans for recycling, which will in turn completely fund a Habitat for Humanity home for a family in Atlanta’s Westside community!

Did you know $73 million worth of aluminum goes to landfills in Georgia every year? What a waste – especially since aluminum can be recycled forever without losing its properties! Think of all of the good we could do (and how many robots we could build) with that recycled aluminum!

What is Recycle for Good?
Our mission is to help Novelis collect 3 million aluminum bottles/cans for
recycling, which is $80,000 in value! In turn, this amount will completely
fund a Habitat for Humanity Home for a family in Atlanta’s Westside community.

What Can My Team Collect for Recycling?
Aluminum bottles, aluminum cans and aluminum scrap from your robot builds.

Where Do We Take Our Recyclables?

1. Bring your cans to the weigh-in at all league and state competitions. There will be a Recycle for Good booth at check-in.

2. Bring your cans to Intonu Recycling, and mention that you are there on behalf of Recycle for Good. Make sure you bring your receipt to competitions for credit.

3. Visit earth911.com to find a recycling center near you. Take your recycling to the center, they will issue you a check for the value which will need to be made payable to:  Atlanta Habitat for Humanity.  Bring this check, along with the receipt they give you, to any competition you will attend.  (Please note that all recycling checks have a 60-90 day expiration date. Please send to GeorgiaFIRST if you will not attend a competition in that time frame.

What’s in It for My Team?

In addition to helping Novelis spread the word about the value of recycling aluminum and paying it forward to help a family achieve the dream of home ownership, the top three FIRST teams at each level will receive the following:
